Auschwitz I Entrance (Interior)

Painting by survivor
Tadeusz Siwek

Directly in front, the tree where prisoners being punished were tied. Sometimes the dogs would be loosed on them.

The building just behind the tree is the prisoner administration building and just to its right, the camp kitchen.

Scroll right prisoners' admissions and reception building. It was partially ready only in late 1943, receiving only one or two transports; next the production workshops.

Still moving to the right you see the main entrance guardhouse and the main gate. (This is the scene depicted in the exhibition “"Then and Now". (If you click over the drawing, a photo of the same scene appears, enabling you to click back and forth between art and photo)
