Prepare With Care!

Q: 4 little elves were trimming a Christmas Tree. 2 elves went home to eat lunch. How many elves were left?

A:There are 2 little elves left to trim the Christmas Tree... and only TWO DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! Yahooooooo!

'Twas the night before - the night before Christmas... Hey wait a minute – that doesn’t sound right!
Anyway – It was 2 nights before Christmas...

And all through the shop
The elves worked til dark –
Til we felt like we’d drop!
We diligently filled each bag to the brim...
And we sewed Santa's Sack with a Shiny red trim.
The toy bags were stuffed tightly ...
and then fastened with string...
If just one should unravel -
What a mess it would bring!
While sliding down Chimneys or even in flight...
To see toy bags open would be such a fright!
For who would get what, and where would gifts go!
It would all become chaos without any flow!
That would be something that no Elf could bear...
And that's why we handle our jobs with great care!
So if ever you have a big job to do...
Here is a clue that can really help you!
Don't wait 'til the last minute,
to do what is asked...
Take pride in your work,
and in all of your tasks!
It’s haste that makes waste,

Boy What a Dream!

Q: Five little dream fairies were flyin' around inside my head. In the middle of my dream, one waved her magic wand and then "POOF" - two of them (I think they were sisters) disappeared. How many dream fairies were still inside my head?

A: That's right -- there were 3 little dream fairies left. And guess what? There are just 3 teeny-tiny-teensy-weensy days left until CHRISTMAS!

You won't believe where I have been...It will probably sound kind of crazy... And while I'll do my best to fill you in - the details are a little hazy....

I went home early last week to take a little nap... and now it's six days later and it's the first time i've been back! What happened between then and now? I'm not really too sure! I'll tell you all that I recall - and hope it's not a bore...

... I got into bed six days ago just to take a nap...and I meant to set the alarm so I'd have enough time to get back! ... When I woke up six days later, the alarm was not switched on - I must have fallen asleep before I turned the darned thing on...

In my dream I dreamed that the alarm woke me up on time...and I dashed over to the Workshop and jumped right back into line. I felt happy and well rested ... and was ready to go go go... I even greeted everyone with a little Ho Ho Ho!

I made a hundred and seven toys that day - and every one of them was great! Then it started raining marshmellows and tiny chocolate cakes... Then I slept and slept and slept and slept and slept a little more....and when I finally woke up it was a quarter after four. It was still pitch black outside and as quiet as could be. So I just closed my eyes and quickly drifted right back off to sleep.

Then I dreamed about lollipops and carnivals and dancing teddy bears. I dreamed you were at my party and we played musical chairs. I dreamed I was the singer in a famous Elfish Band. And for some weird reason all the snow in the world had turned into a pile of sand! ~ In the middle of going surfing with Santa and Mrs. Claus – a giant wave came crashing down and knocked me off my course! That’s when I woke up again... startled and afraid! I thought “I must be dreaming” when I remembered the Penguin Parade! ~ I dreamed that the days were passing me by as I lay curled up snug in my bed. It seemed really, really strange to feel like such a sleepy head! I thought I was still dreaming when I opened up my eyes and saw my Mama looking down at me with her big blue twinkling eyes. She kissed me on the forehead and she stroked my rosy cheek. Then she whispered, “my poor sleepy baby -- you’ve been sleeping for a week!”

She said "with your toymaking ... and going to Elf school....and doing your homework....and playing with your friends in the snow... and doing your chores....and wrapping presents....and playing reindeer games... and helping your sister to learn the alphabet...and building snowmen with Frosty...and singing and dancing...and writing the Jingle Blog to all the good girls and boys in the world -- it's no wonder you're exhausted -- my poor little Elf-heart."

My mom said: "if you want to be your best and stay healthy, strong and bright -- then make sure that each and every day you sleep 8 hours a night..." And now that I know the secret I want you to know it too - so you'll you can get your 8 hours and tell others to get theirs too!!

Boy am I Ever Sleepy...

Q: Jack Frost and his brother Bob were having a fun snowball fight earlier today. Jack threw 9 snowballs at Bob and Bob threw 9 snowballs at Jack. They only hit each other with the snowballs half of the time. How many times did they miss each other?

A: Since 9 snowballs plus 9 snowballs equals 18 - there were a total of 18 snowballs thrown. Since only half were "hits", that means the other half were "misses". Half of 18 is 9... and you got it...9 is the number of days left 'til Christmas!

Christmas is almost here - my very favorite time of year! Everyone is so happy and filled with lots of cheer! I know that it's all true - I meant every word I said. But for some strange reason - I just want to lay down in my bed! I'm feeling very sleepy and my eyelids want to close. I keep trying to stay awake by staring at Rudolph's shiny nose. But even the glow of Rudy's nose can not keep me awake, so I asked Santa if I could take an hour break. I ran right home, jumped into bed, and picked up the alarm clock... But before I could even set it I heard tick...tock...tick.... tick.... tock..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......zzzzzzzzzzzz....

10 Days 'til Santa Claus!

Christmas is in the Air!

SILLY SANTA SOLVER

Q: I went to the Jingle Café for some eggs, bacon, pancakes and freshly squeezed pine juice. When it came time to pay, I gave the waiter $20 and he brought back $10. How much money did my meal cost?

A: Breakfast at the Jingle Cafe cost $10 - and oh my Reindeer - there are only 10 Days left until CHRISTMAS!

The last week of school is probably fast approaching. I bet you can hardly sit still in class! The good news is that Christmas is closer than ever, and things in the North Pole have been running smoothly with very few obstacles! Millions of kids e-mail me daily. Not only have they been sending in their wish lists, but many of them wonder what other children write on their wish lists too. Have you ever wondered what children around the world ask for? Some of our crazier requests have been:
*A new red Ferrari -- That one could be a problem since children aren’t allowed to drive! Write back to Santa when you get your drivers license!

* A trip on a rocket ship -- Boy, that does sound fun! Unfortunately, it's not yet safe for little boys and girls to blast off to the moon - we'll keep you posted on Santa's progress in working with the Space Center for the sake of Christmases to come!

* A trip around the world -- Wow! I love to travel too, so I would choose this over anything else! The only problem is that children your age...and Elves my age, are too young to travel alone -- so you'll have to wait a little while til a grown-up will take you- or you're grown up enough to take yourself!

* A hundred million ice cream cones --Everyone in the North Pole thought this was a very funny request! We scratched our heads over and over trying to figure out how we could make this request happen, but with no luck! We figured by the time we scooped out all those cones, the ones we scooped earlier would have melted all over the floor..Plus, who could eat all that ice cream without getting a big belly ache!?

Sometimes when we get letters from kids all they say is "I want this.... and I want that.... and I want the other thing too!" But the truth of it is-- Christmas isn’t only about the presents. It’s about sharing love, being with your family - and MOST OF ALL - giving gifts from your heart to others. So this year when you write your Christmas List for Santa - in addition to telling Santa what you want -- tell him all about what you would like to give to others too! Remember: the best gifts to give are things like hugs, smiles, and gifts you make all by yourself! Oh, and it sure would be thoughtful if you put in a note asking Santa how he and Mrs. Claus are feeling!

11 Days 'til Christmas!

Confused at Christmas!

SILLY SANTA SOLVER

Q: Mr. and Mrs. Claus are sitting down for dinner. They each have five slices of pizza. There is one slice left, which goes to Mr. Pickles, their Pet Penguin. How many slices of pizza were there in total?

A:There were 11 slices of pizza in total. And by Jingle - there are 11 days left 'til Christmas!

Every year Santa gets billions of letters from kids just like you. Of course the Elves help Santa with the mail... Let's face it – there's just too much for one person to do!

And just in case you're wondering, "yup" -- Santa reads each and every letter you send personally! Once he's done, he passes the letters down to the Elf Master Mister McGee. McGee checks kids names and addresses, toy requests and replies. ~ Just last week we got a letter from a boy named Johnny in Kalamazoo. He said he was very confused and he didn't know what to do. You see his mom and his dad just got a divorce.

And now he lives with both of them as a matter of course.

On the weekends he lives with his father;

and on the weekdays he's with his mom.

And every once in while he gets to stay

with his favorite Grandpop and Grandmom.

But with Christmas fast approaching,

and all of the rules being so new,

Johnny's worried that Santa won't find him --

or know where to deliver his presents to!

How can Santa know,

if he's not so sure himself...

If he'll wake up Christmas Morning

at his Mom's or at his Pop's...

~ Sometimes the divorce of two parents –

can leave kids feeling confused.

Not only about Santa Claus,

but about lots of other things too! ~

So, for all those kids like Johnny,

who feel a bit confused...

Here's a little tip that I hope you all will use.

Love both of your parents,

Because they sure love you... And know deep inside your heart

the divorce had nothing to do with you!

~ And when it comes to Santa Claus,

Don't you worry about a thing!

He'll find you no matter where you are -

and a big sack of presents he will bring!

A:The six reindeer flew through two hoops each. That means the reindeer flew threw the hoops a total of 12 times. And wouldn't you know it - there are only 12 days left 'til Christmas!

An Elfish Limerick

Q: I found a bag of candy on my desk from a secret admirer. I looked inside and there were two lollipops, four candy canes, three Hershey kisses, two tootsie rolls and two pieces of bubblegum. How many total candies were in the bag?

A:There were 13 total candies in my bag and - you guessed it - there are 13 days left till Christmas!

There once was an elf named Joe.
Who worked under an elf boss named Moe.
What Joe didn't know was that Moe wanted Joe
to sing in the North Pole Christmas Show!
~ The problem with Joe as Moe seems to know,
is that Joe is as shy as they come.
If you ask him to sing in front of a crowd,
there's a good chance he just might run!
Whenever he's been asked to sing in the past,
Joe has always said "no".
But when he thought no one was listening,
he'd belt out all the tunes that you know!

~ One day Moe just laid it on the line,
and here's what he said to Joe:
I want you to sing in the Big Christmas Show...
And don't even think about saying 'No'!

14 Days 'til Santa Claus!

Patience, My Little Friends!

Q: Two little ballerina elfettes are practicing their twirls. They want to see how many twirls they can do in a row before falling dizzy on the floor. Turns out, they each can do seven twirls in a row before going ker-plunk! How many twirls can both elfettes twirl altogether before falling?

A: The two elfettes twirled a total of 14 times before they plopped down on the floor! And heavens to betsy, there's just 14 days left til Christmas comes a knockin' at your door!

There are just 14 more days 'til Christmas! Only two more weeks that must go by... Oh by gosh, by golly... It's amazing how time just flies! Since the big day is just around the corner, here's what I suggest you do. Sit yourself down and write a letter telling Santa all about you!

Tell him all the ways you've been good this year, and all the ways you've tried... tell him all the things you're most proud of -- and how you feel on the inside. Then at the very end, of course, comes the very best part. Tell Santa Claus everything you wish for with all your soul and heart!

Once Santa gets your letter, he'll read every single part. Then he'll pass it over to the Elves so we can get an early start! We'll each read your letter carefully through and through. Then we'll officially be "on the job" of making gifts for you! Remember that it's an elf's biggest wish to make all YOUR wishes come true!

There is one very important thing the Elves want you to know. Your lists are often super-sized and each year they seem to grow! A super-sized list is one that's extra long and extra tall. These ginormous lists are worrisome 'cause the Elves are extra small! So do your best to keep your list to a size the Elves can handle. Let's say a single sheet of paper about as tall as an Easter Candle.

Then have patience as the Elves put their tiny hands to the test. Of making the toys and wrapping gifts that you'll love the very best! Before you know it, it will be Christmas morning... and you'll open your eyes. You'll run as fast as you can to the Christmas Tree to find a wonderful surprise! Santa's little elves have made your wishes come true -- the gifts you hoped and dreamed about are all in front of you!

Being Pushy Doesn't Pay!

Q: Five little elves were sledding down the hill. They each sled down the hill three times. How many times did all the elves go down the hill in total?

A: The elves went sledding down the hill a total of 15 times. And you guessed it -- there are just 15 days left till Christmas!

Christmas is almost here, and I can't wait to see, if my best girl Elsa Essa Bee is going to get a present just for me. You see, we had a little tif – just the other day. I called for her to see if she could come out with me to play. She said "sorry Jingles, not today...for the snow is far too deep for me -- i'm afraid I won't be able to see."

I should have understood and just let her be, because you see my Elsa is a little peanut -- she only stands about 2 Foot three! But instead I tried to get her out the house and convince her to go get dressed. Then I just kept on and on and started saying things in jest. I must have really put her patience to the test -- 'cause she got so mad she sent me home and said I was a pest!

I realized later that what I did wasn't very nice. Trying to make Elsa come outside with all that snow and ice! Afterall, Elsa Essa Bee is far smaller than my other friends and me. How foolish it was to try to make go outside when she wouldn't have been able to see! So I apologized to my little Elsa Essa Bee. And now I just hope she accepts my apology!

Want to know what I learned today? Even though I want to, I can't always get my way. And I should respect other peoples' feelings, 'cause being pushy really doesn't pay!

Why Be Lonely?

Q: Four hungry elves snuck down to the kitchen where Mrs. Claus was baking cookies. They saw a big plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. They each had two cookies and then realized they were so delicious, they couldn’t stop. Each elf had two more cookies. How many total cookies did all the elves eat?

A: The elves secretly ate 16 total cookies. And you guessed it -- there are ONLY 16 days left till Christmas! (P.S. Of course, Mrs. Claus was very upset about the elves sneaking off with her cookies - but when the elves apologized for what they did, she was happy to forgive them!).

All of Santa's Elves are used to doing everything together. And I mean everything - all the time – everytime! As a matter of fact it’s actually very strange and very rare to find one of the elves hanging a round alone. We work together, we play together, we sing together, we dance together, we go skiing together and we eat all of our meals together. Most of the time when we're together the fun goes on and on and never stops! Tonight things were a little different though. You see, Santa asked Mrs. Claus to cook up his favorite Carrots and Broccolli Stew -- and for dessert, tons of chocolate cookies too. And he invited all of us Elves over to eat dinner and play Pictionary. But here was the problem. I had promised Mama Elf that I would clean my room all week...and, by tinsel, I sugarplum forgot! Now I knew I'd have to miss going over to Santa's house for dinner and games! As you can imagine, I was not a happy elf. But I knew I had to do what I had to do! After all -- a good Elf always keeps his word! But then, to make matters worse - Mama Elf had to run out to the store and I was left all alone at home! At first, I felt nervous, but then I started getting into what I was doing. I was whistling and cleaning and cleaning and whistling. Before you knew it, my room was clean as a -- (what do you know...) WHISTLE! I guess that whistling while you work really helps you do your best job! By the time I finished, Mama had come home... and she brought with her some Yummy Stew and Chocolate Cookies that Mrs. Claus saved just for me. You know what I found out? Being home alone wasn’t nearly half as bad as I thought it would be... As a matter of fact, I even kinda liked it a little... Turns out, I'm pretty good company to myself! That's great news because now I can never, ever be lonely!

Q: Eight reindeer went to the store and each bought two oatmeal flavored pieces of gum. As they were leaving, one of the reindeer ran back into the store and bought one more piece of gum. How many total pieces of oatmeal gum did the reindeer buy?

A: If you said the reindeer bought 17 pieces of oatmeal gum in total - then you, my friend, are correct! And you know what else? There are Only 17 days left till Christmas!

This morning when I woke up and looked in the mirror I found sawdust in my eyes. That's always a sure-sign that an Elf is working way too hard and needs a day off! Hoolie Hoolie Hay Hay was our attendance monitor for the day. I had to report to him and let him know about the sawdust. Hoolie immediately called in for our Resident Medical Elf – Doctor Hay-Fevor-Getter. I told Hoolie Hoolie that it wasn’t necessary to call in the Doc – But he did it anyway. I never admitted this before, but I'm afraid to go to the doctor! I mean, what if I have to get the dreaded SuperDuper Stinger Shot in my coolie? Scared and Afraid – I hid under my bed. But to no avail. Hoolie Hoolie Hay Hay and Doctor Hay-Fevor-Getter appeared in a flash!

They coaxed me out from under the bed. And I had no choice but to let the Doctor check me out! You know what – it wasn’t soo bad after all! I didn’t need a Super Duper Stinger Shot (whew!). All he did was make me open my mouth and say "Ahhhh" ....then he listened to my heart beating.... and finally, he sprinkled some star dust in my throat.

I felt better In a snap -- and all the sawdust was gone! I guess no matter what - if you don’t feel well -- the Doctor is a great person to visit. I know I'll never be afraid of the Doctor ever again!

The Elf Olympics!

Q:I woke up very early this morning so I could get to work on-time. I spent three minutes brushing my teeth, five minutes taking a shower, 3 minutes putting on my clothes and seven minutes eating frosted snowflakes -- then I left for the Workshop. How many minutes have passed since I woke up?

A: It took me 18 minutes to get ready for the day and there are 18 days left until Christmas!

Today Santa decided to allow us elves a little extra fun – even more than the usual fun we have at work. It was time for the Elf Olympics! It only happens only once a year when there's a full moon rising on the same day as the bright orange sun shines. In the Elf Olympics, we get to show off our “talents in tasks” ... First Santa breaks us up into two teams... The red elves vs. the green elves. And then it's a Competition of who could do each task in the quickest, most efficient and best way. The competition is always stiff, as both of the teams are great at what they do! Here's what we competed in today:

- CANDY CANE PAINTING - LIST CHECKING & DOUBLE CHECKING - REINDEER WASHING - BED TIME TALLYING - NAUGHTY AND NICE KID COUNTING - SNOW FLAKE & WEATHER INSPECTION

Santa and Mrs. Claus were, of course, the judges. They were joined by Frosty, Rudolph and Blitzen. They've all judged the Elf Olympics in the past -- so they really know what they're doing! The competition lasted until half past the sun – setting and the moon rising. Gosh were we ever exhausted at the end! The judges went into a special room to decide on the winner. They had to count up all of our scores and figure out if any extra credit was due for a super-stupendous performance. The outcome was pretty amazing! It turns out that the red team won three of the competitions and the green team won three others! Then both of the teams got 25 points of extra credit for keeping our elf boots shined and showing up to all the games right on time. Then the red team got 25 more points for being really silly! And the green team got 25 more points for always wearing big smiles! So at the end of the Elf Olympics, it turned out we had a tie! Both teams had 50 points and won 3 competitions. That means that we both came in first place! Since we were all such great winners, we decided to go out and celebrate! Today I learned that it doesn't really matter if you win or lose -- it's how you play the game. As long as you do your best and play fair and square -- you'll always be a star!
