About Robin
You are probably wondering, who is Robin Machris? Good question! Please let me share my story with you....
I have been an animal lover for as long as I can remember. Growing up, there were always animals running around our house. Usually at least 2 cats, a dog and various little creatures like hamsters and guinea pigs. This passion for animals grew as I got older.
After my college graduation, I journeyed to Southern California. Over the following 4 years, I held various administrative positions, from customer service at an internationally recognized fitness company to financial aid administrator at a private college.
One day I woke up and realized that something was missing. Although I loved all of my jobs, I knew that I truly wanted to work with animals. Shortly after, I trained for and eventually opened my first pet business, Furry Friends Pet Sitting.
Being a pet sitter was fabulous. I had the priviledge of meeting so many wonderful cats, dogs, horses and even a donkey! This profession gave me invaluable experience working with animals. I was their caretaker, so knowledge of pet health, as well as pet behavioral issues was extremely important. This is when I decided to train myself in all aspects of mainly cats and dogs. I bought as many books as I could find, as well as subscribing to as many journals and magazines. I soon became the 'pet expert' to my clients and they appreciated my advice and input.
Relocation to Northern California forced me to sell my pet sitting business. I immediately got back into the administrative field, working for an international, internet ad agency.
After a few years, I realized that I wanted to work with animals again. I decided to enroll in a local pet grooming school. Upon graduation, I opened my own pet grooming business, Furry Friends Pet Grooming.
I was able to use a lot of my pet sitting skills and knowledge within my pet grooming business. And once again, I became a 'pet expert' to many of my clients. I would offer my advice and pointed them to the right direction when any health or behavioral issues came up.
I was forced to retire from pet grooming after 3 years. Unfortunately the physical demands of the profession started to take a toll on me.
After I left grooming, I was hired on as Project Director with FMG Network. The Be A Show Host program intrigued me as I realized I could take my passion for animals (specifically cats) and share so much information I have learned over the years, as well as educating pet owners on all of the various resources that exist throughout the internet.
So, here I am, host of my very own Show! Meowcast is a dream come true for me. I sincerely hope that you will have fun, as well as learn a lot, when you visit my site.
