Entrepreneurial Advice From the Producer

Sure, I have had my successes, but I have also had my share of failures, disappointments, lawsuits, and missed opportunities; chances are I will have more of each. That’s part of being an entrepreneur. Mistakes and bad decisions have made me a better entrepreneur. Bottom line, things don’t always go as planned and most plans don’t work. When they don’t is when, who we are as individuals and a business person is defined. Personally, I have learned more from my failures than my successes. It’s seeing the bottom that motivates me to be at the top. Success comes with persistence.

My advice to potential entrepreneurs:

  • 1) Believe in what you do.

  • 2) Be a master of communicating your message.

  • 3) Be an expert recruiter

  • 4) Expect to succeed

  • 5) be proactive in EVERTHING you do.

  • (Anything else is counterproductive, and is the fast tract to stay poor or become poor) and
  • 6) be motivated by your failures. (If you are too afraid to make a mistake or fail from trying new things, find comfort in being in the majority and know the person you are working for isn’t).

    Hi “Joe”

Thanks for commenting on the show. I respect your opinion and what appears to be your outlook on life and opportunity. As a matter of fact, I count on it. For it is you that is in the majority not me, and your reservation is my opportunity.

Certainly not you Joe, but a lot of people’s reservation towards new ventures comes from an attitude that carries over into their everyday lives. It controls their motivation or lack thereof to get things done that positively impacts themselves and their communities.
Although it’s more opportunity for me and people like me, it’s a bit sad to see that people are so afraid of failure that not only are they not willing to try, they waste precious time (that could be productive) poking holes in the people that do. Joe I need your help in getting people to think positively and taking chances to do good things.

My primary goal with “Entrepreneurs” The Reality Show www.realseriousbusiness.com was not to give people a pleasant experience; it was to give them a “real life experience” of being an entrepreneur. It’s a world of fail until you succeed and fail some more until you succeed on a higher level. You know Joe, it’s “The School of Hard Knocks” in a world of little support. It’s an ATTITUDE Joe, and if you don’t have a good one, you’ll get eaten up. If it were easy, everyone would do it. Joe, honestly failing really sucks, but the feeling of success is so indescribable it makes it all worth it. Doesn’t it?

Another goal was to teach the importance of being a “Socially Conscious” person and letting that carry over to having a “Socially Conscious” business. This may be harder than actually running a business but it’s an opportunity that we shouldn’t pass on. In the show, just like in real life, our first effort was seen as a failure to some as we lost $16,000 putting on a celebrity golf tournament for a charity. Ouch! The Charity didn’t get to recognize a financial gain, but neither were they out of pocket. Hopefully the publicity and community awareness we brought to them was of great value. Personally, I thought it was an extremely successful event because not only did we have a load of fun that day, we learned some valuable lessons with fundraising for charities that allowed us to raise $10,000 for the next event we did for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It also excited us enough to establish our Unity program. www.unity05.com .

So Joe, you are correct with your statements above:

    1) I scammed 16 contestants (and some of the 2,600 that auditioned for the show who participated in our off camera seminars)
    I "S"ucceeded in "C"ommunicating and "A"pplying a "M"ethodology that’s "M"andatory for "E"ntrepreneurial "D"evelpoment.

    2) What I’ve done for charity isn’t worth $10 compared to what I should do. The fact is we may not earn $1million for charity, but it’s my personal goal and the goal of EventsLeader to do so. That goal motivates me and “the believers” to do something everyday toward getting it accomplished.

    3) As of October 26, 2005, EventsLeader has very little on it.
As you gathered in your research, EventsLeader is a business which has been in the works for more than 6 years now. We just went “live” on the Internet a couple of months ago. It’s our goal to have the site populated by December 31, 2005. Check back in a few months at www.eventsleader.com and see if you are more satisfied.

    4) and, I am blind but I will bounce off every wall before I give up on seeing.

Have a FANTASTIC day Joe and may you be blessed for the positive impact that you promote within your community.

    Mr. Producer,

I heard that a professional football player who was an All-American from he University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill is on the show. I am a student at UNC, can you tell us who it is? And can I get an interview with him? I am majoring in Sports Marketing and would love to write my next paper on this guy and his appearance on "Entrepreneurs" The Reality Show

    Hi Sheila,

Yes. Our professional football player from UNC is Kory Bailey. I am sure Kory will meet with you. He is quite the ladies man, so be careful. Just kidding. Kory is a great guy and very down to earth. If you go to www.realseriousbusiness.com, click on contestants, then his thumbnail; you can get a little more information on him. I will email you his email address. If you like Kory, you definately want to see the Spring Break episode of "Entrepreneurs" The Reality Show. He was the KING of the beach in Panama City
