How precisely do you work your anatomy off?
Alopeciahope: Part 2
The business plan was coming together. However many of us were struggling to meet the $1000.00 sponsorship. I decided to give it my all and write everyone I knew to tell them what I was doing. I shared with them what our challenge was and asked if they could support me in any amount of a donation. This was hard for me to do. I don’t like asking people for money. The responses I gained touched my heart. I ended up with about $1300.00 in donations/contributions. I was so very touched that my friends, family, and business associates supported me so strongly. Some on our team ended up with a couple of large $1000.00 contributions. My team was totally awesome and most of us were willing to share with each other to make sure we all made it. “Broker”, Nataki, Tony M, Micah F, Ty M, Lisa E, and I were all trying to get money up to the last minute. “Robin” kind of disappeared from our team toward the end of this challenge. He had been coming to all the meetings and contributing greatly with ideas. However, near the end of this challenge he wasn’t returning phone calls or being as active. We were all very surprised and wondering what was up. We had lost other team members due to schedules and conflicts, but weren’t sure what was happening with “Robin”.Over the Labor Day weekend we were asked to show for a photo shoot in Raleigh. Hurricane Francis was on our heels that weekend which discouraged many people from attending. Quite a few people came and yes I was one of them. The day was quite windy but the storm didn’t hit hard until later that evening. Hummmmmmmm ….. wonder if the hurricanes were a sign? I felt as though I was constantly preparing for the unexpected throughout this challenge, making sure every “t” was crossed and every “i” was dotted!!
We had to turn in our Business Plans for EventsLeader on September 14th. That part was now complete and out of our hands.
It was finally announced that we would all meet at The Marriott at Crabtree in Raleigh for the next “cut”. The team who won the “best” business plan would all move forward. We would go from 300 contestants to 65 at the next meeting. Our team decided to go all out for this event. We had prepared, worked, lost sleep, wrote and rewrote the business plan, solicited sponsors, and reached outside our comfort zones to be the best. We decided that we would take some things to the Marriott to show our team spirit. We had a professional sign made of our team to rally our group; we all dressed in black suits with yellow shirts/blouses, turned in our sponsorship money in yellow envelopes, and wore yellow roses on our lapels. We were as ready as time allowed. Now, we had to wait to see if one, none, or all of us would make it to the next cut.
I’d say that was a little taste in this challenge of the “lights, camera, action” cliché from those in the movie world. I worked my anatomy off for this challenge and made sure that our team members had action items according to their skills so we all functioned as a team without one person doing all the work.
Who would make it from our team to the next level????
