Local Gay Bars support local Gay guy…

Gay Guy: Part 2

So we were told we were to get a business plan and as a team we were to work on this business plan to make it better, it was not complete and by the end of our current challenge the team with the best business plan would win something special. We were thinking, trips, money, who knows. Also we were given one other hard task to raise at least 1,000 each in sponsorship money for the show. Also there was one dilemma the person who raised the most sponsorship money would automatically get a place on the show. So we were wondering, as a team would we just concentrate on the business plan? or as a group help everyone move forward to the next round of course making our team mates also our competition. Or the final thing was would we just try to go for the gold and make the money ourselves? I was all for doing group projects and working as a team for the business plan, for this was the first experience I had at making a business as in paperwork and internal workings. I mean I have ran personal business ventures in the past but never something upscale that had a business plan.

I spent the next day at the mall and I went to every single store getting contact info on who to speak to for sponsorship info. I also hit the phones and started calling, and it seems like with me and a lot of the others we hit up the car dealerships. All in all I was able to raise my sponsorship closer to home, I got 250 from flex, 250 from legends, and 500 from all keys of raleigh. All gay related businesses who wanted to see a local gay guy get on a local reality show. In exchange I also covered expenses for my phone calls, and time but selling these gym passes but most I gave away to my sponsors to give out. I learned a lot in this round about how to make cold calls, find out what sources to go to to get the things you need, and how to accomplish a goal.

As for my team, we had a first meeting at Snap happy on capital blvd. next to chucky cheese this is where I met ‘Mrs.Retro’ who I really did get a bad impression of from the beginning. She tried to take over as leader and I was not having this. In fact to tell you the truth I found out she was an add on who did not come to the audition, nor was at the capital events center, she was out of town on vacation, she called my house or something and I did not return her call. I don’t even know how she found out about where we were meeting but at first I did not want her on my team, I felt we had enough people already and I did not want any more competition. I think I told her I never heard her call. HAA HAAA But we learned to like each other. I think the reason I did not like her was she was rich and I was poor and I was jealous.

Well then our team dwindled, one by one, by one, then they added ‘Batman’, pretty soon it was me ‘Batman’ and ‘Mrs.Retro’ at the coffee shop, we never got any team fund raisers off the ground, I did some of the business plan in which was never used, and ‘Batman’ and ‘Mrs.Retro’ basically clicked and excluded me in the business plan. I just said forget it, it was important that I needed the 1,000 to move on, in which I did.

I will continue what happened when we met at the hotel in my next entry.

thanks
