Only female on a team of six…will she make the cut?
Time Saver:
At the Capital Events Center, I was assigned to the Blue team. Once all of our instructions were given, we headed to our assigned rooms. To my surprise, I was the ONLY female on my team. We went around the room and introduced ourselves to each other and told a little about what we did for a living. Then we began the daunting task of choosing a team leader. It came down to 2 people. We all voted and ended up having a tie. The tie was between one male that was competent and one male that was NOT competent. Unfortunately, the competent male decided to bow down gracefully and let the incompetent male have team lead. I do believe he had a plan and this was a ploy to let him fall FLAT ON HIS FACE. We decided when we would meet and where and went from there. We met several times and worked on the business plan and the financials. One of the 6 people in my group was assigned the financials. We offered him help, but he decided he could do it alone. A day before our business plan and financials were due, he informed us they weren’t complete and he had nothing to give us. He had left the state for a family emergency, so we were left with NOTHING. Part of the group said we should just turn in the plan without the financials. I totally disagreed. I have always been taught, you should always try instead of just giving up. So, I spent most of the night burning the midnight oil, trying to get the financials completed to the best of my ability. We ended up turning in our plan with the financials incomplete, but we had at least gave it our best try with what we had to work with. During all of the meetings and chaos, we also had to go out and try and get $1000 sponsorship. This sounds easy, NOT SO! Most people will not give you money for something they know NOTHING about even if they trust you. I don’t think anyone on my team, except myself, turned in any sponsorship money. Finally, the day came to turn in our money and to find out who would move on and who would be gone forever. Stay tuned to find out what happens next. Please visit http://www.keyconcierges.com.
