Pineapple, 1/2 cup

Papaya, 1/2 cup

Orange Juice, 1 cup

Agave, 1 Tablespoon

Why do I say "bottoms up" to this Island Smoothie?

This smoothie contains some amazing fruits, including pineapples. Pineapples are nutritionally packed members of the bromeliad family. This delightful tropical fruit is high in the enzyme bromelain and the antioxidant vitamin C, both of which play a major role in the body's healing process.

Papaya fruit is an excellent source of dietary fiber, folate, vitamin A, C and E. It also contains small amounts of calcium, iron, riboflavin, thiamine and niacin. Papaya is very rich in antioxidant nutrients, flavonoids and carotenes, very high in vitamin C and A, and low in calories and sodium.

Oranges are our last ingredient - they have long been known to be a rich source of healthy vitamin C, but now some California chemists have discovered that the fruits have some other nutritious chemicals, too. Oranges are rich in a compound called citrus limonoids, which have been proven to help fight a number of varieties of cancer, including that of the skin, lung, breast, stomach and colon.

I call this Juice the Dynamic Trio!! The oranges make this a great immune booster, while the carrots offer us an excellent source of vitamin A and carotenes - and let's not forget the healing properties of the banana. These golden beauties help us prevent many intestinal disorders, including ulcers! Move over, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman - there's a new Trio in town!

What is a Goji Berry?

Goji berries are a sweet-tasting, dark-red colored dried fruit about the same size as a raisin. The Goji berry tastes somewhat like a cross between a cranberry and a cherry. This fruit has extraordinary healing properties that most people don't know about; it is considered the world's most nutrient-dense food and is known as the BEST anti-aging Super food available to humankind. For over 2,000 years the Goji has proven to improve many health conditions and cure ailments. Goji berries are some of the highest antioxidant-containing foods in the world. Goji berries typically contain 2-4 times the amount of antioxidants found in blueberries. Goji berries can be purchased here.

What is Coconut Water?

Coconut water is a refreshing natural drink with electrolytes (ionic mineral) that are similar to human plasma. It has 15 times the amount of potassium most sport and energy drinks sold at the local super markets have. And, unlike other beverages, it is completely compatible with the human body, in so much so, that it historically has been infused directly into the bloodstream. In fact, doctors have used coconut water successfully as an intravenous fluid for over 60 years.

Now you can see why I call this the Fountain of Youth Smoothie! Just imagine how thankful and good your body will feel after you've finished off the last sips of this smoothie! Don't get me wrong, this is not only good for you, it's beyond delicious! Who could ask for anything more! Coconuts can be purchase at your local health food store or Asian Market.

What is Maca?

Maca's reputation as a powerful strength and stamina enhancer as well as libido-enhancing food-herb stretches back into prehistory. Maca, like goji berries and ginseng, is a powerful adaptogen, which means it has the ability to balance and stabilize the body's systems (cardiovascular system, nervous system, musculature, lymphatic system, etc.). As an adaptogen, maca can provide more energy if it is needed, but if it is not, it will not overstimulate. Adaptogens also boost immunity and increase the body's overall vitality by 10-15% according to most studies. Rather than addressing a specific symptom, adaptogens are used to improve the overall adaptability of the whole body to diverse and challenging situations and stressMACA IS AVAILABLE AT SUNFOODS.
