Transformation of Healing

I knew that my patients were far from “crazy.” They were grieving and dealing with significant loss and/or trauma, but they were not irrational. They were mourning but they were not out of touch with reality. And, what was especially apparent was the transformation – a transformation of healing – which I witnessed in my patients as they continued to process the meaning of such events. I knew that, somehow, I needed to find answers to their questions – answers which would also explain the transformation I was witnessing. I could feel something building within me, directing me and taking me on a path which would forever change my life.

An Extraordinary Adventure

There were also other kinds of extraordinary events many were sharing with me. Some of these could be explained with terms such as psychic, a sixth sense, ESP, remote viewing or simply intuitive wisdom. For example, some spoke of experiencing a knowing of what was about to happen, perhaps by way of a dream or a strong feeling, and still other patients shared with me their intuitive knowing of a loved one, in another part of the world, having a serious problem.

Each of these stories, individually and as a group, moved and touched me deeply and, even more significantly, evoked for my patients and me questions concerning life, death, the spirit and the soul. These questions included: Do we die? Is there life after life? If not, what is it that continues to live? Is there a soul? Also, what is the meaning of extraordinary events in our lives? What do they teach us? Their questions were my questions and, I believe, probably include some of your own questions.

Coincidences and Synchronicities

These were the types of experiences my hospice and grieving patients shared with me, whether they were dealing with pet loss or they were widows, widowers, moms, dads or family members and friends who had lost their loved ones to cancer, some other life-threatening illness or in a sudden death such as a car accident or act of violence. They would tell me about their stunning signs, coincidences and synchronicities such as butterflies or fireflies hovering close to them after their family member had died or frequently finding that the song they most loved and shared with the deceased would be playing the moment they turned on their car radio – and would often replay while in the car.

Others shared dreams, visions of angels, guides and communication with those who had died, as well as stories of miracles, healings and prayers being answered. And others would speak of incidents in which they felt the presence of a deceased loved one, perhaps via a brief scent of their cigar, cigarette, favorite cologne or perfume, or possibly by means of an electrical event such as the electrical lights, television or VCR going on the moment they were thinking of the individual. All of theses events were always considered to be connections with the Divine, such as God, angels, Jesus, Mary or deceased loved ones.

The Power of Love to Comfort, Heal and Transform the Soul

Imagine what it might be like for you if your grieving patients were to share with you their amazing stories of synchronicities, ESP, miracles of healing, communication with deceased loved ones, angels, the Virgin Mary and Jesus, life after life and answered prayers. They would always begin their stories with “I can’t tell others this because I do not want to be thought of as crazy, but this is really what happened.” I found that these words would trigger within me excitement and enthusiastic anticipation as I would then listen to their heartfelt stories similar to those that follow.

“Susan, you may not believe this, but I actually heard my mom (who died several years ago) speaking to me this morning– and I was not dreaming. In fact, I saw a depression forming in the mattress as I heard her call my name in that stern, harsh tone she used to have when I was a kid and was late for school. This time I had overslept and she was waking me up for work. Oh, I knew by her voice that it was my mom!”

Another gentleman described to me an incredible happening during a two-car accident in which he had been involved. He had been dragged about a mile by the other car. When the emergency squad brought him to the hospital, everyone, except the man in the accident, was shocked that he had suffered no serious injuries. The gentleman told me quietly that he had had a vision of being held and cradled by a beautiful angelic being. He felt himself being held and cradled slightly above the ground (he believed by his recently deceased sister or a guardian angel) for the entire time he had been dragged. So, of course, he did not expect to suffer any significant injuries.

And another gal related a story to me of a miraculous incident in which she had been driving along the highway, and suddenly heard a loud, clear voice that told her to immediately get off the highway. Not sure of whether the voice was her own sixth sense, her ESP or an actual voice, she listened and took the next exit. When she returned to the highway about ten to fifteen minutes later, she discovered that there had been a horrible accident, involving fatalities. Had she not listened to “the voice,” she would have been a part of the accident and, perhaps, may have even been killed. She was stunned, grateful and baffled. From where did her voice come? She had no answers, though she felt she had been lovingly watched over and protected by angels, God or by a deceased loved one.
