IN MY NAME, AND IN THE NAME OF
ALL MY FRIENDS THE DEPORTEES,
I am happy and proud to greet the
daring and perseverance of the
courageous men of the 11th British
Armoured Division to whom our area
owes so much.
Indeed, I won’t forget that if your long
move led you to capture the Souleuvre
Bridge, a few months later, you were crossing
the rivers Weser and Aller. There,
in Belsen, you delivered one of the
first concentration camps.
You are the heroes of those historical days;
and the youngest generations, hand
in hand with me, ADDRESS YOU OUR
ETERNAL GRATITUDE.

EN MON NOM, ET AU NOM DE TOUS MES
CAMARADES DEPORTES,
Vous êtes les héros de ces jours historiques;
RECONNAISSANCE.
